Wonder which are the tech skills that will be most in-demand during the year 2018? The niche skills that can get you maximum hike during the year 2018? Research company Zinnov's study on hiring trends at global in-house centre (GICs) reveals some trends. According to the study, hiring in the segment increased by 29% in 2017, the highest increase in recent years, and nearly 2 percentage points more than the year 2016.

It further adds that the biggest increases in hiring and the highest salary increments in India’s technology space are now happening in the engineering and R&D arms of MNCs.

The niche tech skills like cloud, analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, internet-of-things, and robotics are in huge demand. These are forcing GICs to enhance their engineering strengths.

So, here are the skills that may get IT professionals the maximum salary increments during the year 2018.

Robotics: 18% average

At the top position is Robotics. According to Zinnov study, average salary hike for IT professionals with robotics skills will be the highest this year.

The study pegs it at 18%, which is same as during the year 2017. In 2016, the average hike for robotic professionals is 17%.

UI/UX: 17% average

At No. 2 position is professionals with UI/UX skills. The average salary hike predicted for these IT professionals is 16.5%.
